Really Changing Lanes!
Those of you that read Jayleigh's blog already know about this, but here it is from my perspective. The last seven months have been a period that I have done very little to actively answer the calling that God has placed on me to minister to his people in terms of my formal candidacy and training. I have worked to finish the addition to our home that God led us to undertake. I have struggled with uncertainty surrounding my job and the timing of when it will be sent to Malaysia. I have worked hard to earn good outcomes from my college classes.
Throughout all of this time I have continued to pray that God will guide my thoughts and plans and actions with regard to all of my life and specifically to my pastoral candidacy. I skipped the lay speaking workshop weekend that our UMC district holds on the first weekend in March. I have allowed others in our church to work on the things that need to be done around there to take care of the physical part of the church. I have wondered when and how I would find the time and energy to serve as a minister to and for people through Christ.
Wow it has been a long time since I visited here. I started this post on June 26. I started serving as the pulpit supply pastor at the Middleton UMC on July 16. I went to the first week of license to preach school on July 16. Now I am getting to be an old pro, NOT, at pastoring my new old church. In that time, I have helped to lead and direct and teach the VBS program at Middleton and last week I conducted and served my first communion service, with elements that were blessed for me by an ordained elder. I am jumping ahead, so I am going to go back in other posts and add my sermon messages to my blog.
